All those lists of content ideas are a good way to trigger your inspiration, but some are starting to be truly outdated, and audiences no longer engage with them. Even worse, they make you boring and not relevant!

So, it's crucial to understand the importance of generating creative content ideas to keep your content marketing thriving.
One of the key benefits of having a constant flow of content ideas is that it allows you to maintain a consistent posting schedule. Repurposing existing content ideas to maximize their value and reach
Exploring different content formats for variety and appeal
Utilizing keyword research to identify popular content ideas

Engaging with your audience for content ideas
You know me, I’m not going to stop at this. Let’s get into the nitty gritty of it for each of them.
Wait a sec! Let’s not rush this.
The pre-requisite for any content ideas success, whether they’re content ideas for social media or content ideas for small business, is to understand your audience deeply. You need to understand their wants, needs, and pain points. This is where audience research comes into play.
Let me ask you: When was the last time you researched your audience?
Was it when you chose your niche? Or when you created your latest product or sales page?
There is nothing like doing this regularly. Every 6-months. It gets you to synchronize your thinking, your idealism your copy to the heartbeat of your audience.
Here is a short video I’ve created showing you 7 ways to nail your audience research for superfans.
By taking the time to study and analyze your target audience, you can gain valuable insights that will inform your content creation process. There are several methods you can use to conduct audience research, including surveys, interviews, Pinterest trends, online forums, social media, and more.
Surveys are a powerful tool for gathering information about your audience's preferences and interests. You can create a survey using platforms like Google Forms or SurveyMonkey and send it out to your email list or social media followers. Ask questions about their content preferences, pain points, and what they would like to see more of from your brand. The insights you gather from these surveys can help you tailor your content to better meet the needs of your audience.
In addition to surveys, interviews can provide in-depth insights into your audience's motivations and challenges. Reach out to a few of your most engaged followers or customers and schedule a phone or video call to discuss their experiences. Ask open-ended questions to encourage them to share their thoughts and feelings about your brand and the industry you operate in. These interviews can provide valuable anecdotes and personal stories that can be used as inspiration for your content ideas.
Social media listening is another effective method for understanding your audience. Monitor social media platforms for mentions of your brand, industry-related keywords, and relevant hashtags. Pay attention to what your audience is talking about, what questions they are asking, and what challenges they are facing. This real-time feedback can help you identify gaps in your content strategy and generate ideas for content that directly addresses your audience's needs.
By conducting audience research, you can gain a deep understanding of your target audience and use that knowledge to create content that truly resonates with them. This will not only increase engagement but also foster a sense of connection and trust between your brand and your audience.
Staying up-to-date with the latest industry trends and news is essential for creating timely and relevant content that captures the attention of your audience. By tapping into these trends, you can position your brand as a thought leader and stay ahead of the curve in your industry.
But careful! There are 2 types of trends. One is futile and short-lived. The other is essential to surf seasonality peaks and audience motivation.
Frankly, believing that growing online is about using the latest Instagram or Tiktok audio trend is a huge waste of time. I know they are some social media gurus whose content promises you to jump to 10k followers by using a certain sound trend. That, my friend, is ill-advised.
Only your uniqueness and value puts you on the path to great things. And, by the way, you don’t need 10k followers. You want email list growth, lead generation, and sales.
Here are a few strategies to incorporate industry trends and news into your content ideas.

Use the Pinterest Trends tool to analyze seasonal and latest trends in your niche. You can research trends through keywords, month-on-month, niches, and more.
You’ll understand what your audience is searching for and identify related subjects.
The power of Pinterest for trends and content ideas for your content marketing is that you can spot the months in advance and be there early. That’s where you ride a trend in the best way possible.
I teach all about the Pinterest Trends tool in my signature programme, The Profitable Pinterest Secrets. The programme is far more than a Pinterest course. It is an entire system for content marketing success for leads generation years on autopilot.
Pay attention to industry thought leaders, influencers, and publications on social media. By keeping a pulse on what they are sharing and discussing, you can stay informed about the latest trends and news in your industry.
Set up Google Alerts for keywords related to your industry. Google Alerts will send you email notifications whenever new content is published that matches your keywords. This allows you to stay informed about the latest news and developments in your industry without having to manually search for them.
You can also use Google Trends to spot content ideas that your audience is interested in. I find the Pinterest Trends tool far more insightful, in particular, to help anticipate seasonal trends and up-and-coming trends per niche.
Participate in industry events and conferences. Attending conferences, webinars, and workshops related to your industry can provide valuable insights and networking opportunities. Take note of the topics discussed and the questions asked during these events, as they can serve as inspiration for your content ideas.
By tapping into industry trends and news, you can create content that is timely, relevant, and highly engaging. This will position your brand as a trusted source of information and keep your social media channels at the forefront of your industry.
User-generated content (UGC) is a powerful tool for engaging your audience and building a sense of community around your brand.
UGC refers to any content that is created and shared by your followers or customers, such as testimonials, reviews, photos, and videos. By leveraging UGC, you can create authentic and engaging posts that resonate with your audience and encourage them to interact with your brand.
There are several ways you can encourage and leverage UGC on social media.
An effective method is to actively seek out and share content created by your followers.
Monitor your social media channels for mentions, tags, or hashtags related to your brand and reshare the content that aligns with your brand image and values.
This not only shows appreciation for your followers' contributions but also provides valuable social proof for your brand.
When your followers see their content being shared by your brand, they feel a sense of validation and are more likely to continue engaging with your posts.
Another way to leverage UGC is to run contests or giveaways that encourage your followers to create and share content related to your brand.
Not only does this generate UGC, but it also incentivizes your followers to engage with your brand and spread the word to their own networks.
Additionally, you can collaborate with influencers or brand ambassadors to create UGC that aligns with your brand.
Influencers are individuals who have a large following and influence within a specific niche.
By partnering with influencers, you can tap into their creativity and reach to generate UGC that resonates with their audience and yours.
This not only exposes your brand to a wider audience but also adds credibility and authenticity to your content.
By leveraging UGC, you can create authentic and engaging posts that resonate with your audience and foster a sense of community around your brand.
Struggling with what content ideas to post? Well, this is the simplest of the answers!
So many forget this simple and super-powerful strategy when looking for content ideas: repurposing.
Here are two of my own examples:
Repurposing existing content is a cost-effective and efficient way to generate traffic and leads with your content marketing.
Repurposing involves taking a piece of content that you have already created, such as a blog post or a video, and transforming it into a different format or repackaging it for a different platform.
By repurposing your content, you can maximize its value and reach while also saving time and effort in the content creation process. So what content ideas should you repurpose?
Start by identifying your best-performing content. Look at your website analytics or social media insights to determine which pieces of content have generated the most engagement, traffic, or conversions. These best content ideas are great candidates for repurposing, as they have already proven to resonate with your audience.
Once you have identified the content ideas you want to repurpose, consider the different formats and platforms you can use to reach a wider audience.
The possibilities are endless, so get creative and think about how you can present your content ideas in a new and exciting way.
In addition to repurposing content ideas into different formats, consider repackaging it for different social media platforms.
As Neil Patel quotes from Deloitte, when a business leverages omnichannel marketing, their LTV (Livetime Value) goes up by 30% (Neil Patel email marketing July 01, 2023).
Let’s look at an example:
By repurposing existing content ideas, you can maximize its value and reach while also saving time and effort in the content creation process.
Identify your best-performing content, explore different formats and platforms, and get creative with presenting your best content ideas to captivate your audience and keep them engaged.
To keep your social media channels, Pinterest, and content marketing in general fresh and engaging, it's important to explore different content formats that appeal to your audience.
While written posts are effective, incorporating a variety of formats can help you stand out in a crowded social media landscape and capture the attention of your followers.
Here are a few content formats you can experiment with:
Videos: Video content is highly engaging and can convey information in a more dynamic and visual way. Create short videos that provide tips, tutorials, or behind-the-scenes glimpses into your brand. You can also go live on platforms like Instagram or Facebook to interact with your audience in real-time.
Infographics: Infographics are a visually appealing way to present complex information in a digestible format. Use tools like Canva to create eye-catching infographics that convey key statistics, processes, or step-by-step guides.
Podcasts: Podcasts are a popular medium for consuming content, especially for audiences who prefer audio-based formats. Start a podcast where you discuss industry trends, interview experts, or share insights and tips related to your niche.
Interactive Content: Interactive content encourages your audience to actively engage with your brand. Create interactive quizzes, polls, or surveys that allow your followers to provide feedback or test their knowledge.
Visuals: Visual content, such as photos or illustrations, can be highly impactful on social media. Use high-quality visuals to tell a story, evoke emotions, or showcase your products or services.
User-Generated Content: As mentioned earlier, user-generated content is a valuable content format that adds authenticity and engagement to your social media channels. Encourage your followers to create and share content related to your brand, and reshare their posts to showcase their contributions.
By exploring different content formats, you can add variety and appeal to your content marketing and social media channels, keeping your audience engaged and eager to see what you'll share next.
Experiment with different formats, track the performance of each format, and adapt your content strategy based on what resonates best with your audience.
Keywords are the foundation of search engine optimization (SEO) and play a crucial role in determining the visibility of your content on search engines like Pinterest, Google, and YouTube.
You can identify different content ideas and phrases most relevant to your industry and target audience by conducting keyword research. This research can help you uncover popular content ideas for social media, likely to generate interest and engagement.
I mean it!!!
First, analyze competitors and what content ideas and keywords they’re ranking for.
Then, identify the keywords that have a low SEO difficulty, and you can rank for them.
Creating content ideas through keyword research can feel counter-intuitive, and yet, it’s the best investment of your time.
When asking yourself where to find content ideas, think keyword research!
Your keywords should reflect the language and terminology that your audience uses when searching for information online. Once you have a list of keywords, you can use keyword research tools like Ubersuggest to gather data on search volume, competition, and related keywords.
Look for keywords that have a high search volume but low competition. These keywords indicate topics that are in high demand but have relatively few competitors. By creating content around these keywords, you can increase your chances of ranking higher in search engine results and attracting organic traffic to your social media channels.
In addition to search volume and competition, consider the intent behind the keywords you are targeting. Are people searching for informational content, product reviews, or how-to guides? Understanding the intent behind the keywords will help you create content that aligns with your audience's needs and preferences.
By utilizing keyword research, you can uncover content ideas to post that are likely to resonate with your audience and generate engagement. Incorporate these keywords into your content strategy to increase the visibility of your social media channels and grow your audience.
Are you ready to keep unlocking the secrets of generating endless content ideas for your online success? Well, get ready because I've got a powerful technique to share with you today. We're going to dive into the world of social media listening and how it can help you identify those pain points that your audience is dying to find solutions for. Trust me, this is a game-changer!
Social media listening is all about tuning in and paying attention to what your target audience is saying about their challenges, frustrations, and needs. By doing so, you can gather invaluable insights to fuel your content creation and address their pain points head-on.
By addressing this pain point, you're providing valuable content that resonates with your audience's struggles.
Another way to uncover pain points through social media listening is by monitoring relevant Facebook groups or forums in your niche.
By offering solutions to their pain points, you'll establish yourself as a trusted authority and attract a loyal following.
Remember, my friend, how to find content ideas using social media listening is about truly understanding your audience and empathizing with their struggles. It's about using their own words, frustrations, and questions to inspire your content.
So, grab your digital ears, tune in, and get ready to create content that truly connects with your audience's pain points!
Well, buckle up because we're about to dive into the power of engaging with your audience.
When it comes to creating content that truly resonates, there's nothing quite like tapping into the thoughts and desires of your audience. So, let's explore some effective ways to engage and extract those golden content ideas!
One simple yet powerful method is encouraging your audience to share their burning questions, challenges, or topics they'd love to learn more about. You can do this through:
social media posts
Instagram Stories with polls, questions, or other interactive features
email newsletters
live Q&A sessions
Surveys
Quizzes
Live webinar
Create a safe and welcoming space for them to express themselves and let those content ideas pour in.
For example, if you're a cooking enthusiast, you can post a question on Instagram like, "What's your biggest struggle when it comes to meal planning?"
The responses you receive can spark numerous content ideas, such as "Quick and Easy Meal Planning Tips for Busy Professionals" or "How to Meal Prep for a Week and Save Time in the Kitchen."
Another effective way to engage with your audience is by hosting polls or surveys. These not only encourage participation but also provide valuable insights into their preferences and interests. You can use platforms like Instagram Stories or create a survey using tools like Google Forms or Typeform.
I love doing that in Kartra, as it is my all-in-one marketing platform, including my email marketing.
Don't forget the power of comments and direct messages.
Engage in genuine conversations with your audience and pay attention to the questions they ask or the topics they're curious about. These interactions can provide valuable inspiration for your content creation.
By directly addressing your audience's inquiries, you're providing relevant and helpful content that they'll truly appreciate.
Remember, my friend, engagement is a two-way street. Listen to your audience, be present, and actively involve them in your content creation process. By doing so, you'll not only generate endless content ideas but also build a stronger and more meaningful connection with your audience.
I love this question.
One thing is essential. Content ideas with AI will sound generic. Not just because it isn’t your voice and brand copy, but it is based on what’s already out there.
So use AI as a brainstorming tool, as a content idea assistant, and as a writer assistant.
Then add your genius!

Instead of yet another list of content ideas, here are some of the differentiation elements that will make you stand out from the crowd:
Tell your story
Explain your why
Lead with your business values and mission
Show your product creation or content ideation
Share behind the scenes
Be transparent about your failures and struggles and how you overcome them
Show up and share personal stories
Present the team, their stories or how you work together
Showcase how you craft your customer service
Let your customer do the talk about you with UGC
Demonstrate how you include a personal touch to what you do
Lead with content ideas that focus on your customer experience and not product features
Your content marketing strength is that craft and personalized approach a small business as you can have. So make the most of it!
You, my friend, have a genius skill and quite certainly spend hours refining your craft for the best creations.
For example, as a true photography enthusiast, I can tell you I have planned for weeks, driven hundreds of miles, and waited for hours to capture the perfect sunset, in that unique location during the right season of the year.
Whatever you create, it is very likely that you focus less on your content marketing than your art creations. So when it comes to content ideas for artists like your or content ideas for photographers like you, I’ll keep it simple.
You have a genius that people love!
Haha! You might be thinking, this is a very niche FAQ about content ideas. Well, I’m selling my house and this has become quite an obvious one for us right now!
There is a change on content ideas for real estate agents but it is sloooooooow. Some have picked on it and are thriving. Some are still on traditional marketing.
What do I mean?
Traditional content ideas for real estate agents are based on the product: the property, the location, the plot. Purely product based.
People don’t buy a house. They buy the life experiences that come with it: their children's future through good schools in the area, healthy living with a veggie patch in the garden, the de-stress of the city in the countryside, the social recognition in a certain area, the dream of 3-generation family living in a large property with separate living spaces, the need to care for your old ones with a downstair bedroom, the helping the planet with a zero-carbon house, the family flexibility of a home-working space… The list goes on.
So dig deep beyond your list of content ideas and work of the dreams, the purpose of what the property can fulfill. Then create content ideas for real estate agents that resonate with their dreams, not just features.
The fear of showing up on camera is real. Very real.
I was petrified.
I, in fact, was convinced I won’t be able to become a successful online entrepreneur because I wasn’t able to bare the idea of showing up on camera. I get it.
First of all, there is plenty of content ideas that don’t require that and are super impactful.
For example:
Create carousels on Instagram
Write blogs versus a YouTube channel
Create pins with impactful graphics
Post videos with b-roll video (video of a scene) and over text
Consider adding a picture of you to graphics, instead of having to show up on video
Content ideas without your face can be very successful, especially when combined with your unique opinions and systems. As an online entrepreneur, especially if you are a personal brand, people connect with you. So take little step after little step to show up.
I love it now!
Did I say “bonus tip”? Here comes more than one! 😂
I said at the beginning there are many lists of content ideas but here is my very personal view on how to generate content ideas with topic research.
Not all content ideas are equal. You don't need a constant flow of complex, creative content ideas either.
You need simple content ideas that show who you are, even from from to time stepping into controversy!
So BE YOU and find your voice.
STOP copycatting what others do. Get inspiration. Don’t repeat it.
You may think, “Wait, Isabel, but I also need to say what others say.” I know.
Find your twist, the way to say it that makes it more unique.
While consistency is a great friend for your content marketing strategy, hey, my friend, also give yourself grace when you need a content creation recharge pause.
Non-stop content creation is exhausting and unrealistic.
Establish workflows that facilitate consistency on the day-to-day, and don’t beat yourself when you need a breather. You’ll come back stronger!
I love Pinterest to grow my leads on autopilot without content exhaustion. Watch my FREE workshop here:
One of the most frequent struggles with how to generate content ideas is the search for “new” content ideas. Things you haven’t said before to your audience.
Here comes what can be a real shocker for you…
You need to repeat your key message a thousand times! I meant it.
What brands do you remember? What slogans can you repeat?
The answer is simple: the ones you have seen or heard a million times. Your brain's memory functions with repetition.
So why do you try to say one different content idea every time?
Your core message needs to come back again and again. Concentrate on saying it in different ways, in different formats, but again and again. So when you work on your content calendar or content writing, or your content strategy, chill… your underlying key message can be present 60% of the time. That isn’t just ok, it is the best way to results.
Here are four examples of my own message repetition:
Are you a perfectionist like me? You might always want to get it right.
That inevitably will make you take more time and, even sometimes, put the effort in and decide not to use some of your best content ideas because something in the path to perfection held you up.
“Stop!”
That’s how I challenge myself every day. I am an endemic perfectionist! I can constantly think of something else that can make the content idea I’m working on better. In fact, I’m doing exactly that as I write this blog! 😂
Remember, SIMPLE always wins. Posted or pinned is always better than on draft or in your head.
The endless loop of how to find content ideas is dangerous. Why?
Because you could be randomly be constantly trying out content ideas and waste your time.
Becoming intentional and strategic with what content ideas to post on social media or to pin on Pinterest or to publish in your blog or YouTube channel is what makes the whole difference.
Statistically, only 20% of your content will perform well. 80% won’t. Embrace that reality, understand the common elements of the best content ideas and do more of them!
What next?
Don’t try to do it all!
Pick one thing that you haven’t tried before and implement it next week.
And remember, content ideas will come at any time of the day, in any place, so capture them in a file on your mobile when they come to add to the ones you’ll find through research.
You’ve got this, my friend. In now time you’ll have the best of the content ideas bank!
