You are in the golden quest for website traffic… because everything starts with traffic, you know it!!

You have heard it many times: SEO and Pinterest!

But really????

You have been reading about SEO (Search Engine Optimisation) to get your rankings in Google up in the search results and… wow, it seems it does not seem to work.

And SEO is pretty techi! Really not the kind of thing you really enjoy learning about or doing…

You have a presence in Pinterest but you wish you could make it work easier and better. It takes quite a lot of your time.

You wish your Pinterest saves and click throughs were higher.

You have applied to Pinterest groups but many do not reply or the ones you are in do not seem to work extraordinary well for you.

You have not got one of these big budgets for ads in Facebook or Instagram to grow your reach and traffic.

You find difficult to keep track of what you have posted when, to avoid being suspended by Pinterest because they see you as spammy.

You may even be using Tailwind and have not yet reached that hurray-moment…

In a nutshell:

  • you want more traffic.

  • you need to save time in your internet marketing activities.

  • you wish you could optimise your workflow to avoid Pinterest suspending your account.

  • you need to understand the Tailwind for Pinterest secrets to extract maximum value from your current or future investment in this tool.

You may think that you have read this type of blog about Tailwind so many times: “Use Tailwind for Pinterest to automate your Pinterest activities, it is fantastic.”

First of all, that’s absolutely true.

But wait, don’t go yet!

There is sooooo much more to Tailwind than this! Let me tell you a bit of the story of how I got to this view.

I was among the skeptical people, I admit it!!!

When you start an online business, there are so many possible tools, online courses and other investments that seem to be great and all super important. The fact is, most of us haven’t got an unlimited budget to get all that sounds interesting.

Yes! That’s me too!!!

So I am going to share with you my journey and findings with Tailwind for Pinterest and how it has completely transformed my Pinterest.

As with anything, there is a learning curve… It can take time until you refine how to use Tailwind so that you optimise it for you.

With this blog post I want to shortcut that learning period for you and share how Tailwind has helped me get hundreds of thousands of monthly views in Pinterest.

That could be you too!

Please note that my results may not be typical and you can find here Tailwind’s typical results.

If you are hoping to do it for free, this is not the blog for you. I prefer to be out-front about it. You may be thinking, like I did, well, I got this! No need to pay, I will pin directly myself and save money! Or you may be thinking, I will use the trial to schedule 100 pins … The trial is a great taster. It helps you familiarise with Tailwind for sure. I am all about extracting maximum value from free versions or trials.

In retrospect, I wish I had made the Tailwind upgrade with Power Ups much, much earlier.

Tailwind is a very valuable investment, one that will give you results much faster than SEO or Pinterest alone.

Keep on reading if you:

  • need to increase your website traffic.

  • dream of saving time and being productive.

  • want to maximise your Pinterest impact without being suspended or banned.

If you are familiar with Tailwind and you think this is just what you already know, don’t close this blog without checking out the Bonus section. I share a great pro-tip, a traffic secret that many times you can only discover through paying courses.

So now, for those of you not that familiar with Tailwind, let’s crack on with how to use it to maximise your traffic, your productivity and your interactions in Pinterest.

Many describe Tailwind as a Pinterest scheduler… a software where you set a time and day for your pins or repins to be posted to Pinterest. It is certainly a scheduler and we will cover that later…

However, Tailwind for Pinterest is much, much more than that!

Where Tailwind will be magnificent in particular for your business is in one front: giving you the ability to maximise your traffic!

I have chosen to start with how you drive traffic from Tailwind to your website because I believe that website traffic is the one thing that your online business can not live without and therefore Tailwind gives you a great return on investment just with the traffic growth it can enable when you use it in conjunction with Pinterest quality pins.

So let’s look at how to achieve this!

See this content in the original post

Let’s start with the basis (skip this if you already have an account): setting up a Tailwind account and connecting it to your Pinterest account.

If you want to have a feeling for how Tailwind works, Tailwind has a great free trial that you can use to get more familiar with it. You will be able to schedule 100 pins.

Excellent! Let me uncover for you the best ways to use Tailwind to increase your website traffic with Tailwind, be productive and optimise your results.

What are Tailwind Communities?

Tailwind Communities are groups of Pinterest accounts with a common interest that come together under a Community to support each other. You can find Communities for bloggers, home decor, food, fashion, kids… you name it.

It is a similar concept than Pinterest Groups but far more powerful. This is because:

  • You can instantly join Tailwind Communities… versus the endless requests to join Pinterest groups that go unanswered.

  • You can share your pins to the Tailwind Communities you have joined, so that others can reshare / repin your pins without being seen as spammy by Pinterest.

  • Where it is soooooo much better than Pinterest Groups is that Tailwind Communities increase your chances of getting repinned: at least for every pin someone shares into a Tailwind Community, they need to share someone else’s pin. A magic reciprocity rule.

  • And because it is very easy to check in Tailwind if people follow the repinning reciprocity rules, pins in Tailwind Communities get reshared a lot. See you pins get repinned and your traffic grow! Simple and easy.

Obviously, you still need quality pins, because good content is always the basis for all.

If you want to up level your pin game, check out my blog on The Best Blogging Pinterest Tips And Tricks To Explode Your Traffic For Free - 3 Top Pinterest Traffic Tips For Bloggers To Get More Blog Traffic:

Ok, you know what. Nothing better than seeing how to make all of this happen!

Because, I will be honest, there is a bit of getting used to Tailwind.

At the beginning Tailwind feels very different to Pinterest. So if you are going through your learning curve with Pinterest, Tailwind might feel yet another tool to learn. I was there too! It is however much easier than it feels at first glace!…

And it is so, so worth it, believe me, that once you get used to a few (not many, I promise!) concepts with Tailwind for Pinterest, you will use it even more than Pinterest!

So that you master Tailwind super fast, this blog has plenty of video mini, step-by-step tutorials for you.

Let’s look at how to join Tailwind Communities.

See this content in the original post

The secret sauce of Tailwind is Tailwind Communities. I could not have achieved my Pinterest account growth without it. And everything starts with joining them. Now you know how!

When joining Communities, pay attention to a couple of metrics that Tailwind shares with you:

  • the number of members in the Community

  • the level of activity in the Community (blue bars)

Let’s see 2 examples below to see where to find that information and what it means.

I recommend that you join Communities with high levels of activity (the more blue bars the better). This means that the Community members are actively repinning in the Community and you are more likely to be repinned.

Joining Communities with at least 3 blue bars (more active Communities) is more likely to bring you repins.

The large Communities (with hundreds or thousands of members) may give more reach when your are repinned by a member of the Community. However, there are far more pins shared in the Community and therefore your pin competes with many more pins to be repinned.

PRO-TIP: Have a mix of small, medium and large Communities that are active.

See this content in the original post

The Tailwind for Pinterest trial, at the point of writing this, allows joining 5 Communities.

Communities will become quickly the heart of your activity in Tailwind.

My own experience is that joining more than 5 Communities is highly beneficial.

To increase the Communities you can join beyond 5, use Tailwind Power Ups.

Tailwind Power Ups enable you to upgrade your account. Yes, it becomes a paying account. You have many levels of Power Ups. In the Bonus in later on I share which level has worked really well for me. Every account is different, so adapt to what you need.

See this content in the original post

Now that you have joined some Tailwind Communities, let’s see what’s your next steps to grow your website traffic with Pinterest.

See this content in the original post

There are 2 essential parts to make the Tailwind Communities work for you:

  1. You sharing pins from other members of the Community in your Pinterest account.

  2. You sharing your pins in the Community so that others can repin them in their Pinterest accounts. This is what will help grow your traffic!

Let’s look in this section at how to share pins from others in Tailwind Communities. You need to do this to comply with the Tailwind Community rules of reciprocity. If you only share your pins and don’t reshare other’s people pins, you will get expelled from the Community.

It is easy to know how many of your pins you have shared versus how many you have shared from others in the Community, as Tailwind gives you visibility of this (see photo below).

When you have not been following the Community rules Tailwind will colour code the reshares in red, so that you know you need to reshare more pins from the Tailwind Community.

Let’s see now how easy it is to reshare pins from others using Tailwind to your Pinterest account in the video below.

See this content in the original post

Resharing from Tailwind Communities helps generate activity in your Pinterest account, which Pinterest loves.

So you get a win-win by sharing content from others in Tailwind Communities:

  • You can share more of your own pins in the Tailwind Community.

  • You are active in your Pinterest account.

PRO-TIP: You don’t want to pin too much in Pinterest to avoid being seen as spammy and being suspended. Tailwind is also great to warn you if you are scheduling too much. We will look at this later when looking at scheduling in Tailwind later on.

PRO-TIP: Always ensure that you share pins from the Community that you have checked out and like. Sharing all and everything is spammy and will reduce the quality of your Pinterest account.

See this content in the original post

PRO-TIP: You can batch your activities in Tailwind, for instance once a week. Batching is a great method for being more productive with your Pinterest management that pros follow.

Try having everything done related to Pinterest traffic once a week and save time to grow your business!

This is a fantastic functionality to help grow your traffic.

Enable others in the Tailwind Community to share your content in their Pinterest accounts. This is how you can do it:

Fantastic!!!! You now:

  • have a Tailwind account,

  • have joined Tailwind Communities,

  • you know how to share other’s people pins from the Community into your Pinterest account

  • as well as how to share your own pins to drive traffic!!!!

Impressive! You see! Not difficult at all.

One of the most valuable intangible asset you have as an online entrepreneur is TIME. The more time you dedicate to the core of your business, where you can add your unique value, the more you will lead your business to success.

Tailwind is well known as a Pinterest scheduler. It is fantastic that Tailwind enables you to automate Pinterest related tasks. Scheduling pins is one of them.

But what’s the difference between manual pinning and pin scheduling?

See this content in the original post

It is important to understand why it matters to schedule your pins before we get into looking at how to do it.

I do not want this blog to be a “click-here-click-there” type of blog only. Yes, I have included plenty of step-by-step videos, so that you learn how to do things. But there is more to it that clicks and clicks. When you understand why it matters, you use Tailwind for Pinterest strategically for your online business.

As Tailwind is an investment, and as with any investment, the first thing for you is to understand what are the benefits to you of scheduling with Tailwind.

So here are three major benefits from scheduling with Tailwind for Pinterest:

  • Tailwind spreads your pins throughout the day, even when you are sleeping!

    • This signal to Pinterest that you are active in the platform and the algorithm loves it.

    • For you to achieve the same without Tailwind, you need to go into Pinterest through the day and manually pin. Inefficient…

    • You can ensure that you consistently pin when your audience is most active. For some geographies, those time slots can be in the middle of the night!

  • You will save plenty of time with Tailwind for Pinterest by:

    • Batching your Tailwind pin scheduling once a week (or every 2 weeks), and let Tailwind do the rest for you!

    • Simplifying and automating how to repin to different Pinterest boards using Tailwind List of Boards.

    • Systematising the repinning of your most popular pins with Tailwind Smart Loop.

  • Tailwind will help you keep your Pinterest account healthy, reducing the chances of being seen as spammy or being suspended by:

    • Warning you when key information is missing from a pin.

    • Warning you when you are pinning too often the same content.

    • Maintaining a healthy time separation when you pin to same pin to different boards, when using Tailwind Intervals.

It is true that you could organise yourself to carry out many of these tasks and checks manually without Tailwind.

However…

As the volume of your pins increases if you want to be serious about Pinterest, manually checking all these things becomes quite unmanageable and, frankly, a truly inefficient task.

Tailwind removes complexity for you.

In order to schedule pins easily and fast from Pinterest in Tailwind, first install the Tailwind Chrome Extension. If you did not do it when you signed up for Tailwind, it is super straightforward to do it now. Just follow the steps in this video:

See this content in the original post

This extension will make you super fast scheduling pins. It is very useful to have it installed. It truly goes hand in hand with Tailwind.

See this content in the original post

PRO-TIP: Although I have said before, please always ensure that you repin content you have checked and are happy with. This is a quality rule that helps maintain your Pinterest attractive and healthy.

Once you have installed the Tailwind Chrome Extension, let’s move to schedule pins with Tailwind. With Tailwind, you can chose the pins you want to schedule from:

  1. Pinterest pages

  2. Any website

  3. Tailwind Communities (see previous section)

So let’s see how to schedule pins in Tailwind from Pinterest and from other websites.

See this content in the original post

Time for you to put this into practice:

See this content in the original post

Superb!!! Doing this has made you more familiar with scheduling pins. Easy!

See this content in the original post

Now you know the basics, let’s optimise how to schedule for maximum impact!

See this content in the original post

PRO-TIP: While it is advisable to add or delete time slots for your pin scheduling, don’t over-do it! Pinning too much will get you suspended by Pinterest. The great news are that Tailwind will keep an eye on your schedule and tell you whether your pinning frequency is within the Pinterest best practice.

The photo below shows you how Tailwind checks for you this:

It is important to fine tune your pinning for what works best for you.

Time for you to get your Pinterest working great using Tailwind:

See this content in the original post
See this content in the original post

As you know, it is beneficial to pin to 4-5 boards a pin and not to do this on the same day. This means that you quite certainly have Pinterest boards that are inter-related.

Another fantastic advantage of Tailwind is that it enables you to create overarching lists with your boards, in fact group of boards.

See this content in the original post

This makes it super easy to pin to different related boards with one click. A super time saver! See how it works:

See this content in the original post

PRO-TIP: Use Tailwind Intervals to space in time the repins to the List of boards. Check out how to do this later in this blog.

See this content in the original post

Let’s finish this section on being super productive with a very useful function in Tailwind.

What do you do with pins that are very successful?…

Repin them across different boards! Not too many to avoid being spammy though!

What do you do with successful seasonal pins?

Repin them!

The challenge is: you need to remember to do it at the right time. To go and find the pin from the previous season, schedule it… and then start again… find it, repin it to other boards… then remember how long ago it was that you repinned it, to avoid over-pinning… and again… look for the pin, schedule it…

Would it not be helpful to have this cycle of repins for your pins done for you!

That is what Tailwind calls SmartLoops. See below how to set one up:

See this content in the original post

PRO-TIP: While I really like SmartLoops, please don’t over do it. Use it for very few, really impactful pins. be careful with the frequency of repins that SmartLoop will set up. Space in time and across boards. It always pays off to be prudent with repinning.

So we have seen how to help drive your website traffic with Tailwind for Pinterest and how to be super productive automating with Tailwind.

Let’s look now at how to optimise your Pinterest activity while avoiding being spammy.

See this content in the original post

Insights on your pins and boards will enable you to know what work best and what doesn’t.

It is a great to use this data to decide what and where to pin in the future and what pin designs are best.

Tailwind has a whole area called ‘Insights’, with plenty of performance analytics of your Pinterest account.

Have a look at the video below for an overview of these insights:

See this content in the original post

While data can be overwhelming if you spend too much time on it, it is also enormously helpful to optimise your Pinterest strategies.

So make a point of looking at Insights in Tailwind for Pinterest regularly (but not too often!).

See this content in the original post

PRO-TIP: Remember when looking at your analytics that Pinterest is not Instagram. Followers is not what you are aiming for as your number one measure. Some of the more important metrics are:

  • clicks (what brings traffic to your website)

  • saves (give you more chances to be seen in Pinterest and potentially be repinned)

In Tailwind for Pinterest, you also can see what boards are working well for you with these 2 key measures:

  • Virality score (gives you a sense of the level of repins in that board)

  • Engagement score

Data guides you to refine or change course to get results. Don’t look at it too much though or it becomes counterproductive!

See this content in the original post

There is one thing that Pinterest penalises you for: repinning too often to the same board, as Pinterest considers this as spammy.

Tailwind has the answer for you to avoid it the easy way. Have a look!

See this content in the original post

That easy!!! Don’t you love it?!!!

See this content in the original post

Yes, you can try to keep track of this manually, but it becomes a nightmare very quickly, the more pins you have in Pinterest.

Tailwind simplifies this task for you really well.

See this content in the original post

Another task that you certainly do regularly is to repin to different boards. And yes, there are plenty of blogs and advice out there warning about repinning too often to same content.

Tailwind has you covered to schedule your repins to multiple boards and space them in time automatically. Tailwind Intervals!

See how it works. Simple and powerful!

Be super productive with Tailwind Intervals and avoid being spammy!

See this content in the original post

One tasks that can be more difficult to spot needs doing in Pinterest is to see where key data is missing to drive the algorithm at optimal levels.

Let me give you an example.

Tailwind analyses your Pinterest account and highlights issues for you. Have a look below.

So, so super handy. It makes everything super easy to fix too!

See this content in the original post
See this content in the original post

When repinning from Communities, you can have a view of the popularity of the pins, as Tailwind shares with you the number of times the url of a pin has been shared in Pinterest, Instagram and Facebook combined.

PRO-TIP: While I do not recommend that you only repin highly popular pins (blue flame in the thousands), it can help drive your traffic in Pinterest to pin some of these from time to time. Remember, always check the quality of what you are resharing.

I believe that there are great, quality pins that have not reached yet high volumes that are truly worth repinning too! People like you, with great content and growing organically.

Many times the high volumes can come from highly promoted accounts with ads.

See this content in the original post

When sharing to Tailwind Communities using the Pin Inspector, Tailwind warns you if you have already pinned to a Community, how long ago it was and whether it was the same design or not. Amazing!!!!

PRO-TIP: Avoid resharing the same pin to the same Community often. It is really spammy. Re-share to Communities using the Pin Inspector, so you know when you last share a pin to a Community.

See this content in the original post

Now that you are super proficient with Tailwind, I want to share with you what really made a huge difference in my Pinterest account.

If you remember at the beginning of this blog I told you about my biggest mistake… which was trying to replicate what Tailwind offers manually. I then thought I will only use the Tailwind free trial for the 100 pins.

The story continues. I then decided to buy Tailwind Power Ups for Tailwind Plus.

This allowed me to start using Tailwind Communities more. It was great!

I very carefully managed the 30 repins per month in the Communities I was allowed in my basic Tailwind Plus subscription. I saw immediate results!

After a while, I started optimising to what Communities I was repinning to, so I could maximise my reach. It worked again. I even got a couple of pins going seriously viral. Fab!

I then decided to spend some time experimenting with both Pinterest and Tailwind. That’s the scientist in me, experiment, analyse the data, adjust and try again.

After much own experimenting, reading blogs, watching YouTube videos, attending webinars… I discovered one of great secrets that is usually just disclosed in paying courses.

Tailwind Power Ups: Tailwind Plus + Communities Unlimited.

I finally decided to go for it and upgrade my account!

Wooooooooooooooooow!!!!!!!

Great growth.

I joined more Communities and increased significantly my repins to Communities per month. You have no limits any more!

Result!

Now I would never consider not having this. The best investment!

Shhhhhh!… Not many people share this secret, so I hope it was worthwhile having read this blog!

Here is my Pinterest traffic, so that you can see it for yourself.

Don’t hesitate.

Your traffic will benefit from sharing with more Communities.

Obviously, your pins still need to be good. You need to avoid being spammy and work on the quality of Pinterest. There is nothing like quality pins to ensure that your Pinterest account works well. Needless to say, you should also follow best practice for Pinterest. My results may not be typical and you can find here Tailwind’s typical results.

Without the Power Ups for Tailwind Plus + Communities Unlimited, I would not have grown my Pinterest reach like this. So I am sharing with you my experience.
